Tamiya TBLE-02S Brushed and Brushless ESC Electronic Speed Controller

ESC aka Electronic Speed Controller is the main module responsible for power distribution and control in RC cars. There are 2 types of motors on the market for RC cars – Brushed and Brushless. There are also different types of Batteries on the market – Lion, Lipo and so on. So when you choose your ESC it is important to know already what motor and battery you will be using so your ESC has full support for that type of motor and battery.

Manufacturers do not recommend using this ESC with Lipo batteries and there is one reason why. The cutoff voltage to save your battery from deep discharge on this ESC is set to 4.9v which is way too low for Lipo 2s battery. 2s Lipo cutoff voltage should be set minimum at 6v – 6.4v. Luckily there is an easy modification for this to ramp up the cutoff limit so it is safe to use this ESC with Lipo 2s batteries. This is again something that the manufacturer does not recommend! 🙂
